Open Access Policy
All articles published in BREN Journal are made freely available online immediately upon publication, allowing unrestricted reading, downloading, and distribution, provided proper attribution is given.
Copyright Policy
Authors publishing in BREN Journal retain the copyright of their work. By submitting and publishing with us, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and permission to disseminate the article in print and electronic formats.
All published articles are made freely available for use under an open-access license as long as the original authors are properly cited.
Licensing Policy
All articles in BREN Journal are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) License. This license allows anyone to share (copy and redistribute) and adapt (remix, transform, and build upon) the material for any purpose, even commercially. Proper credit must be given to the original author(s) and the source, a link to the license must be provided, and any changes made must be indicated.
Repository Policy
BREN Journal supports the principles of open science and encourages authors to deposit their work in institutional or subject-specific repositories. Authors are permitted to self-archive only the published version of their manuscript in institutional repositories, personal websites, or subject-based repositories immediately after publication, provided proper citation and DOI are included. This will help increase the viability of their article and encourage open research discussions.
Peer Review Policy
BREN Journal operates a double-blind peer review process to ensure impartial and high-quality evaluation of manuscripts. Each submission is reviewed by at least two independent experts in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on their subject expertise, research credentials, and absence of any conflict of interest. At least two independent reviewers are asked to evaluate manuscripts based on originality and novelty of the research, scientific rigor and ethical standards and compliance with journal policies. After peer review, the editorial team may reach one of the following decisions: Accept without revision, Minor revision required, Major revision required (with re-review) or Reject the submitted manuscript. If in need of revision, author(s) are to respond to reviewers’ comments within 2-4 weeks of request.
Ethical Standards
We adhere to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, ensuring integrity in research, authorship, and publication. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards plagiarism, data fabrication, and unethical research practices.
Plagiarism Policy
All submissions are screened using advanced plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts with significant overlap or duplication will be immediately rejected. Authors are responsible for ensuring their work is original and properly referenced. Our reviewers and editors are encouraged  to review keenly and report suspected plagiarism. Authors must ensure that all sources are appropriately cited and permission is obtained for the use of copyrighted materials such as figures, images, and tables.
Authorship & Contribution Policy
Only individuals who have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.
Data Availability & Transparency
Authors are encouraged to share raw data, code, and supplementary materials where possible to promote reproducibility and transparency.
Waiver Policy
Our mission at BREN Journal is to advance the visibility of biosciences and engineering research, by providing an affordable and inclusive publishing platform. To achieve this, we maintain a minimal Article Processing Charge (APC) of only $50, ensuring that authors are not discouraged by high publication costs. In addition, BREN Journal considers waiver requests on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the author’s academic level (student or staff) and financial situation. We recognize that many researchers, especially students and early-career scholars, often fund their own studies and work with limited institutional support. Therefore, our waiver system allows eligible authors to benefit from partial reductions of 10%, 25%, or 50% in APC. Corresponding authors may apply for a waiver after submission by contacting the editorial office (editor@bobdaddy.com), clearly stating their request along with the manuscript details.
Archiving Policy
We are committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of all published contents. We ensure this by making sure that all published articles are stored permanently on BREN Journal official website (https://bobdaddy.com/)Â and backed up on secure servers. We also participates in recognized digital preservation systems (e.g., LOCKSS/CLOCKSS, PKP Preservation Network, or equivalent archiving initiatives), and use registered DOIs and Metadata to ensure discoverability and stable citation. Even in the event that the journal ceases publication, previously published articles will remain accessible through partnering repositories and archiving networks.
